The State Technical Industrial Institute “Modesto Panetti” is a high school located in the center of the city of Bari in Italy. It has many courses with the specialization of Chemistry, Materials and Biotechnology, Electrical and Electronics, Information and Communication Technology and evening course SIRIO. Over the years it has been gradually renovated to respond vividly and adequately to the new needs of the people and the students who are planning for a university or working future. In addition, the institute is involved in numerous projects of international cultural exchange creating opportunities for students to learn about a new social and cultural background, have a more open vision of the world and to have highly educational experience, relevant to their school career and college.
The institute has five-year duration. In the first two years, the program is common to all specializations, offers in-depth study of all the major humanistic, scientific and technical knowledge to give students a good basic education and to guide them in the choice of their specialization. At the beginning of the third year, students can choose to participate in one of the courses of specializations listed above. At the end of the five-year study, students receive their industrial technique diploma that allows access to any university faculty and following the passing of a state examination, they receive the “Perito Tecnico Industriale” that gives the opportunity to start their working career.
The school director
Prof. Eleonora Matteo, degree in Civil Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Bari with vote 110/110, praise and applause from the Committee with other cultural and professional titles, led the school for almost seven years. With so much passion and love for her work and with her experience, she has helped “Panetti” to receive many regional and national titles and awards and has help students get into their preferred university faculty or to find the right job. And as she always says to her students: “Open your minds, get used to reflect, to ask yourself questions and do not ever stop at the first answer!”
